Excavator 360 Operators are always in demand and we offer courses for complete novices through to experienced operators who need the CPCS card to start or progress their career. The CPCS A59A category gives you the ticket to operate tracked machines above and below 10 tonnes whilst the CPCS A58A category gives you the ticket to operate tracked machines below 10 tonnes only.

On passing the course you will have achieved the CPCS Trained Operator (red) card, which demonstrates that you have been trained to operate the machine safely and efficiently.  CPCS is the most widely recognised construction card in the UK and the benchmark standard for most large construction sites.

If you already hold the 'Red' card we can advise on how to get your  Competent Operator or 'Blue' card and for 'Blue' card holders we can advise on renewing.

The length of the course depends on the experience of the candidate.  Free assessment sessions are available if you are unsure which course is for you.  Get in touch to book.

  • Novice – This is a 5 or 7-day course, held at our centre in Sussex, which includes a theory preparation session, 3 or 5 practical sessions and the test day and is designed for operators with either basic experience or none at all.

  • Experienced Plus/Refresher - Suitable for operators with some experience and/or would like a refresher after some time away from the machine. This course includes a theory prep session a practical training session and then the test day. Delivered over 2 or 3 days dependant on attendees.

  • Experienced – This course includes a theory prep session and the test day and is specifically for experienced operators who have the industry experience and now need the ticket to demonstrate that.

Operators are able to book just the test day. We strongly advise however that the candidate visits the NOCN Jobcards website to familiarise themselves with the theory and practical test requirements.

Pre-course Requirements

Delegates must have passed the appropriate NOCN CPCS or CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test. This must have been taken no more than 2 years before the date of the technical test.

The red card, which is only valid for 2-years, is just the first step towards blue card.  During that two year period you need to work towards achieving the relevant NVQ.  Once this has been awarded then the blue card can be applied for.  The blue card is valid for five years and is renewable.
